The method behind the matrix

Air-Grid™ is our own grid-knit fleece, now in its second generation. For 2.0 we refined the knit itself: a bigger, smarter grid that sits lighter on the back and moves the way you do. Warm without the bulk, and built to be worn far more than it's washed.

The whole grid is built from recycled fibres, keeping plastic in use and out of landfill, with none of the warmth traded away.

The raised grid lifts the fabric off your skin and opens up air space that pulls vapour away and carries heat outward. So when the pace steps up, you vent instead of overheat.

2.0 The evolution of a fan-favourite

The original Air-Grid Fleece has been on more dawn starts, dusk descents, and 5am airport runs than we can count. Across thousands of trips, two requests kept surfacing: make it roomier, and make it even more breathable. Not a different fleece — the same fleece, dialled in.

12 months. One question.

How do we improve the fit and breathability without losing what makes it a Zorali favourite? What followed was a year of fabric mills, sample rounds and side-by-side wear tests — and a lot of "almost, but not quite" — until we landed on a larger grid geometry that breathes faster when your output spikes, then quietly traps warmth again the second you stop.

To the hills and back

We re-patterned the men's and women's cuts from scratch, then tested the 2.0 prototypes through alpine dawns in the Victorian High Country, fast-and-light overnighters, and long days under shells and over base layers. Every round of testing came back with a list: cuff length, pocket reach, hood cinch tension. These aren't the things you notice on a hanger — they're the things you notice on day three (or 300).
