Inspired by the old-school rucksack designs of the 80s, the Escapade Backpack has been refined via more testing and ongoing improvements than any other product in the Zorali line.

A multifunctional all-rounder designed to go anywhere

What started as a redesign of our first backpack (the Pioneer Pack), quickly shifted into something much bolder: we wanted a versatile backpack for escapades anywhere. From a stroll in your hometown to trail days in the mountains. A backpack that holds 30 litres in volume, and has 8 pockets, but can still pack down small. One that makes a great carry-on bag for travel, but can also expand to fit a light tent plus gear and equipment due to its versatile roll-top. The Escapade Backpack was born.

Co-designed in collaboration with our customers

The original concept was a bag that distributes weight across your shoulders. Due to community input, in 2024 we added a removeable waistband for days that require a heavier load. We’ve also put a lot of focus on the shoulder straps, designed with plenty of padding and a chest clip to evenly distribute the load. Annnnd, due to feedback from our photography community, we added side straps, which work for tripods, but also for hiking poles or climbing gear. Though we love to dream up new colourways for this two-tone gem, we also love that we can barely keep up with demand for our existing colours. Keep watching this space: given the love we get for the Escapade, and how many we see out there in the world, we can’t wait to keep refining this much-loved backpack for a long time to come.

All around (the world)
I was looking for a great all-around backpack. I don't like waste, so having a bag for travel and a bag for work was not what I wanted. Instagram ads got me, and I did some research and chose this bag. About a week after I got it, I went to Paris and Turkey, and it's been great ever since. I've had it for about 2 months, and so far, so good.
One of the best things about it is that the main compartment feels like a Mary Poppins bag. I organized my packing at first, but scrambling between airports and hotels, you just kind of shove stuff in, and man can it hold.

The Perfect Backpack
I’ve always been on the hunt for the perfect backpack. After owning close to 20 different packs over the years, I can finally say I’ve found it.
At 30 liters, it hits the perfect balance between roomy and compact. For day hikes in the Pacific Northwest, it easily holds snacks, extra layers, water and essentials for the whole family. For work, it transitions seamlessly. My laptop, notebook, and daily essentials fit without issue and it still looks clean and professional.
Comfort is a huge win. The padded, wide straps make long treks comfortable and it holds up really well in the ever-changing PNW weather. Rain or shine, the materials are durable and reliable.
What really stands out is the organization. Zorali nailed the pocket design. There are enough compartments to keep gear sorted, but not so many that you lose track of where everything is.
I’ve owned many of the big brands and plenty of others, but none felt like the complete package until this one. The Escapade is well-priced compared to big name brands and delivers on every front: comfort, durability, style, and function.
For me, calling a backpack “the one” isn’t something I say lightly. But the Escapade truly checks every box. Whether on a muddy trail, commuting to work, or packing for a short trip, this backpack does it all.
10/10. If you want one backpack that can handle everything, stop searching. This is it.

Digital Nomad to Hiking Heaven
Honestly - hands down the best bag i’ve ever bought. i literally took it with me for a month around europe and it help all my clothes, devices - it then became my day bag so i could go and work in cafes while on long walks in Latvia and England and The Netherlands. And then it will be my hiking bag when I go back to NZ. Genuinely would recommend this bag to anyone. It fits all purposes and I hate having different bags for different things. This one just fits all needs. Thank you Zorali for your time and care on this one! It’s an epic product and one very happy kiwi nature lover! Worth every cent and I’ve only had it just over a month 😍
