We took inspo from Australia’s 80-million sheep and created natural Merino Base Layers for nature-lovers.

Our favourite fibre, baaaa none

We’ve always loved merino fabrics. They help maintain a stable core temperature. They stay odour-free, even after sweaty exertion. And, as the old adage says, wet wool’s warm! So it’s the perfect fibre for outdoors time in changeable weather. What we love most about our Merino Base Layers, is that feeling of being wrapped in 100% natural Australian wool, and how that connects us more closely to our natural surrounds. Deep in the mountains or by the coast, as we walk, run, sweat, sleep, wake up and walk again, Merino wool is always, always, always our first choice.

Another thing we know about merino is that done wrong, things can get itchy. So in developing our Merino Base Layers we worked hard with our partners to hit that sweet spot of year-round warmth and lightness: which we now know is 170g rib fabric, made from 18.5 micron fibres. We also worked hard to ensure the environmental credentials of our suppliers, and we’re proud that all our merino products meet the Certified Woolmark Blend®, and Responsible Wool Standard (RWS) Certified standard. Since launching in 2023, our Australian Merino Wool Base Layers have quickly grown to become one of our best overall categories. And as devotees of merino ourselves (even in our sub-tropical Queensland surrounds), we know it’s just as much about the all-weather functionality as it is about our eye-catching colourways.

Fantastic top as long as it is not humid!
I've been looking forward to finding a Zorali product so I could support a small Aussie business. I love merino and this Elysian Hoody is well made. Five days on the Cooloola Great Walk and the top was a champion. The only concern I have is the heavier weight and tighter knit meant the hoody did not dissipate my sweat well. The top remained damp/clammy for almost the entire trip despite both airing the top in the sun and attempting to use body heat in my quilt to dry it. The damp/clammy feeling did not affect performance while I wore the top hiking but I have other merino that does breathe better. I'd recommend this top for less humid environments like South Australia

Perfect Weight and Fit
Got to rock the LS Merino Hoody while we were shooting the images for this campaign! The team have nailed the weight of these. Light enough to work well as an active base layer and replace your sun shirt on slightly cooler days. Fits super well and is the tried and true soft merino that we've come to love with Zorali!

Mens Merino LS Hoody Charcoal
Fabric feels great. Fits well. Very comfortable too wear. Being 100% merino I'm expecting it will be wearable for many days unlike the synthetic counterparts. Will be great. In a couple of weeks I'll be on the Overland Track for 8 days. That will give it a work out. If I remember I'll do another review.
