We took inspo from Australia’s 80-million sheep and created natural Merino Base Layers for nature-lovers.

Our favourite fibre, baaaa none

We’ve always loved merino fabrics. They help maintain a stable core temperature. They stay odour-free, even after sweaty exertion. And, as the old adage says, wet wool’s warm! So it’s the perfect fibre for outdoors time in changeable weather. What we love most about our Merino Base Layers, is that feeling of being wrapped in 100% natural Australian wool, and how that connects us more closely to our natural surrounds. Deep in the mountains or by the coast, as we walk, run, sweat, sleep, wake up and walk again, Merino wool is always, always, always our first choice.

100% natural wool fabrics made by Australia

Another thing we know about merino is that done wrong, things can get itchy. So in developing our Merino Base Layers we worked hard with our partners to hit that sweet spot of year-round warmth and lightness: which we now know is 170g rib fabric, made from 18.5 micron fibres. We also worked hard to ensure the environmental credentials of our suppliers, and we’re proud that all our merino products meet the Certified Woolmark Blend®, and Responsible Wool Standard (RWS) Certified standard. Since launching in 2023, our Australian Merino Wool Base Layers have quickly grown to become one of our best overall categories. And as devotees of merino ourselves (even in our sub-tropical Queensland surrounds), we know it’s just as much about the all-weather functionality as it is about our eye-catching colourways.

Best T on the track!
Absolutely loved this and the charcoal version on my recent 5 day Wild South Coast Way walk in S.A. I wore this everyday and so happy with the quality. It held up with minimal smell after long warm days into the 30's. These T's are now going to be my go-to for hiking! Highly recommended. Looking forward to new colours. 💕

Best shirts for travelling EVER!
I took two merino shirts around the country with me last year and it was the best decision I made! They are so comfortable, fit perfectly and have some special voodoo magic in them!!! I could wear them for days before needing to wash them (I’d just air it out at night).
If I did it again, I would take no cotton shirts and only merino!!
I bought them because they were the best value, but I’m glad I did! They are so much more comfortable than another brand of merino that I own.

Merino, great feel and cut - but piles
I love the colour, feel, and cut of this top — it’s flattering and slightly cropped, which I would suggest sizing up if planning on tucking into pants for the cooler temps.
After a 4-hour hike with a backpack, I noticed pilling where the pack had rubbed against my lower back. I later learned that pilling is common with merino wool and not covered under Zorali’s lifetime guarantee. That said, it does feel like 100% merino - win!
I washed it before use on a wool cycle with wool-specific detergent. I’ll now use this top for layering or low-abrasion activities like walking without a pack or sleeping.

Great fit!
As a larger gal, I was a bit nervous about the sizing and “cropped” fit but it’s perfect. Merino can be a bit see-through and while it is a little sheer, it’s fine with a crop underneath. It’s a good thickness too - not super thick or thin, and I think it will hold up well for quite a few wears. After a weekend hiking, camping and sleeping in it, it didn’t smell at all!

Soft, fine, comfy, nice fit, not itchy
Love this tshirt - the merino is soft, fine, comfy, not itchy. Really pleased. I ordered my usual size - an 8 - and it fits nicely, not too long in the body, and a pleasing boxy shape. My only note - more a comment than a criticism - is that the colour is a little darker than suggested in the photo. I ordered this hoodie with a stone marle hoodie, which you can see in the photo I have attached, looked quite different online, but are in fact much more similar (but not the same) in colour in real life. None the less, I am very impressed with both products. Enjoy!
