Your work expresses your deep connection with nature; Plants, animals, waves & sea-life. How important is it to you to spend time outside?
It’s very important for me to be outside and to exist semi coastal. To be near water seems to be the only thing that keeps the worries away. I tend to be a pretty anxious person and spending a lot of time indoors immensely triggers that. I feel like I have known that since I was very young and have always been the last kid in the house or out of the water.

Whats the stickiest situation you’ve been caught in the outdoors?
I was camping with my buddy In Australia 10 years ago and a good sized brown snake passed through where we were sleeping. I didn’t get much sleep after that and was up most of the night thinking about it.(imagining it ending up in my sleeping bag)
It seems kind of lame thinking about it now because I know snakes don’t care about humans really, but I was younger and dumb.
A more Recent event or scenario I have dealt with a couple times would be getting to a spot to surf in deep winter here in Maine, and not having the correct gear. Trying to squeeze a surf in 3 degrees Celsius water because the waves are pumping ,(but you have accidentally packed the wrong wetsuit is always interesting). You don’t stay in very long without the right wetsuit.
As a man of the road, What are some surprising essentials you carry on your journey?
I always carry a good down jacket (no matter the hemisphere because I love a nap on a plane and to feel snug), sunscreen/ moisturizer (gotta try and keep the face from falling off), a few electrolyte packets (there could be beers where I’m going)- and drawing materials (cell phones need to take a break)
Ok, quick fire ultimatum. Never go outside again, or never draw again. Which one are you gonna choose?
I would choose to never draw again because I’d probably die without sunlight and salt air- I’d have to learn to express myself in another way…maybe I could learn to write ?
Rainforest Swim or Mountain Hike?
Rainforest swim definitely - even if there are piranhas or ayuhuasca covered poison tree frogs - I’d love it.
