One reason to get outside?

For me, getting outdoors helps me get back to what's important. It strips it back to the basics. Eating simple meals, spending your days in nature, and sharing it with good company. You will find yourself in places that take your breath away - or simply just have time to notice the smaller things.

What is one thing you never forget to pack for an adventure, and why?

I once left my hiking shoes behind for an overnight hike - 40km later I had some very sore feet. Now I always make sure to travel with them. I also love to pack a deck of cards.

One tip to share with budding outdoors's?

Start small and keep it simple. Whether it's a morning walk, an overnight camp or something more, spending time outdoors doesn't have to be complicated. Enjoy discovering what you like and ask for help when needed.

One time you felt out of your comfort zone?

One moment recently was when I summitted Mt Kilimanjaro. It pushed me unlike anything I have done before, particularly the toll of the low altitude on my body. Saying that, it was one of the most incredible experiences and I had an incredibly rewarding sleep afterwards.

One thing you love to eat outdoors?

I love making trail mix. Mine will often consist of dried mango, M&M's, macadamias, and some red frogs.
