What's up with all the trees?
You only have to look at a majestic Mountain Ash to understand the awe-inspiring power of trees. Plus, because they generate the precious oxygen we breathe, they’re keeping us and all of our wildlife pals alive. Oh, and they store carbon on Earth. Doubling our tree planting efforts to 20 trees for every Zorali product purchased this Black Friday, in an area of severe deforestation is our contribution to our future planet.
Is it BYO spade?
Not quite. We’re currently planting in Kenya. So carbon offsetting your flights would be an issue. Instead, via our reforestation partners, Eden, we’re employing local villagers to plant native trees. Restoring their local environment that’s been devastated by logging, and creating jobs to help lift Kenyan communities out of poverty. Win win.
Where are the trees heading?
North of Kenya’s capital city Nairobi, the village of Kijabe, stands on the edge of the Great Rift Valley. It is known for its dry steep terrain and Afromontane forests. The area’s home to many pastoral communities who rely on the local ecosystem to sustain themselves and the economy. Due to deforestation events related to charcoal harvesting, the land is highly degraded. Our project partners, Eden, use multiple methods of reforestation, including farmer-managed natural regeneration, to help restore the area to its wondrous exotic beauty. Through our Green Friday campaign, we hope to raise enough funds to employ 20 locals for a full year to help plant the next 50,000 & beyond.
What if I already have enough Zorali?
If you're all covered for your outdoor adventures, then you can do your part by sitting this one out (because no one needs 10 pairs of Venture Pants). But if you've been looking for an opportunity to purchase something you've had your eye on, we encourage you to help build our Green Friday forest.
