The method behind the matrix

Air-Grid™ is our own grid-knit fleece, now in its second generation. For 2.0 we refined the knit itself: a bigger, smarter grid that sits lighter on the back and moves the way you do. Warm without the bulk, and built to be worn far more than it's washed.

100% Recycled Fibre

The whole grid is built from recycled fibres, keeping plastic in use and out of landfill, with none of the warmth traded away.

Zorali Trailblazer wearing the Air-Grid Fleece

Zorali's new Air-Grid is a proper upgrade on the V1, and it sits firmly in the technical mid-layer category now. The biggest difference is the weight. Zorali have found a really good balance between weight and breathability, and it's still genuinely warm.

I've been wearing it most mornings hiking and riding without getting sweaty. The old one ran a bit warm at medium output. This one doesn't.

The fit is great too. Snug enough to layer, with plenty of room to move. And I love the two fabrics: a burlier face on the outside, with that soft grid fleece against your skin. Seriously cosy.

Honestly, it's pretty sick. So stoked on this one!

2.0 The evolution of a fan-favourite

The original Air-Grid Fleece has been on more dawn starts, dusk descents, and 5am airport runs than we can count. Across thousands of trips, two requests kept surfacing: make it roomier, and make it even more breathable. Not a different fleece — the same fleece, dialled in.

12 months. One question.

How do we improve the fit and breathability without losing what makes it a Zorali favourite? What followed was a year of fabric mills, sample rounds and side-by-side wear tests — and a lot of "almost, but not quite" — until we landed on a larger grid geometry that breathes faster when your output spikes, then quietly traps warmth again the second you stop.

To the hills and back

We re-patterned the men's and women's cuts from scratch, then tested the 2.0 prototypes through alpine dawns in the Victorian High Country, fast-and-light overnighters, and long days under shells and over base layers. Every round of testing came back with a list: cuff length, pocket reach, hood cinch tension. These aren't the things you notice on a hanger — they're the things you notice on day three (or 300).

Perfect Active Fleece!
This dropped at the perfectttt time for me as temps were in the negatives for running and it has become my go to layer for these runs, as well as for up the mountain under the jacket! length is great, doesn't get in the way and breathes when you're sweating better than the old air-grid, which I didn't run in. Also love the hood and cinch for extra chilly, windy mountain days. It also looks really nice just with jeans to wear out and about - love the colour (although slightly more berry than I expected). Still love my old air-grid but this is more for everyday/cosy wear or in the evening when hiking or camping. Think they both have a place!

Love love love my new hoodie
Tested my new hoodie out on a sunny but windy coastal walk. Wasn’t sure how I’d go with just a tshirt and the hoodie but it was perfect. Super comfy. Kept the sun off and wasn’t too hot. The back wasn’t sweaty under my pack, and even later in the day when the temp dropped and the wind was cooler, I was a perfect temperature. I’m usually taking off layers and then putting them back on throughout the day. This was life changing!! The dusky lavender goes perfectly with all the Spring wild flowers!!

Best warm hoody!
I own quite a few of the older version of this Air-Grid hoody and just love them. Super comfortable, baggy, love the kangaroo pouch and drawstring hoody. And the new colours, this is my favourite! I love bright colours for hiking so bring out more! I really like the new design, breathable, warm and really nice material. 🙌
